Native Dance Ministry

<<Prev  Firestarters Ministries September 2009  Next>>

Busy, busy, busy is the word for Firestarters for September. The month started off with a trip to Oakville to attend the funeral of our Brother Al Brown. Our condolences and prayers are with Sharon and the family

We attended the Puyallup Pow Wow at Chief Leschi. We enjoy the pow wows. It’s a good time to minister to people, see old friends and make new acquaintances. We are reminded that Jesus walked among the people. We were blessed to have our youngest granddaughter with us. We want her to learn about her heritage and see the beauty of the dance and the people.

We support the First Nations Gathering in Tacoma in prayer and were surprised to have Richard and Katherine Twiss as the guest speakers this month. We haven’t seen Richard and Katherine for several years. It was good to visit with them and catch up on what God is doing in Wiconi ministry.

Muckleshoot opened their new tribal school this month. We attended the school dedication. The tribe has built a beautiful school that will serve K - 12 grade.

We were honored to minister at the Tulalip Aglow meeting this month. Gary ministered in worship, Pat did interpretive dance and spoke.

We attended the annual Cowlitz Pow Wow that Jerry Chapman mc’s. The pow wow is growing leaps and bounds. Again, good to see many old friends that live south of Olympia and meet new people. The NWNative Women’s Conference was announced several times and flyers distributed.

Unfortunately the First Annual Native Families Celebrating Recovery Conference at the Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church was canceled due to conflict in scheduling. The attendance response was excellent. This would have been a fantastic outreach to families. Our plan is to reschedule for next year.

Pat ministered in dance at the Fellowship Christian Ministries International annual conference. The dance was very well received and people comments about the power of God through the dance.

We continue to work on the NWNative Women’s Conference. We are expecting an attendance of 400 ladies from all over. Already we have women coming from Montana, Alaska, Canada, Oregon, California, and Arizona. Unity is the theme. Please cover this in prayer.

We participated in a prayer walk up north. It always good to connect with new intercessors. From time to time we are invited to participate in various prayer walks and attend church services and gatherings to show honor to the native people and build bridges of understanding where they are needed. We continue to accept these invitations.

Blessings to you all!
